TUTPic2 Jabulani Baloyi, recognised as one of the Top 5 Adjudicators of the tournament. A moment of excellence and pride This year’s tournament outcomes were nothing short of exceptional:

  • Sibusiso Pita advanced all the way to the Novice Finals, earning a spot in the closing stages of the tournament as a Novice Debate Adjudicator.

  • Jabulani delivered an outstanding adjudication performance, securing a place in the Finals and achieving recognition as one of the tournament’s Top 5 Adjudicators.

These achievements reflect personal dedication and hard work while also marking an important milestone for the TUT Debate Society. Each representative showed that TUT debaters can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in the circuit.

Beyond competition, Jozi Ramble offered TUT students a valuable intellectual space, one that nurtures critical thinking, sharpens argumentation and builds confidence. The experience strengthened the society’s collective resolve and deepened its commitment to fostering a culture of rigorous, respectful discourse on campus.

The Directorate of Extracurricular Development strongly supports such initiatives, recognising that platforms like Jozi Ramble contribute meaningfully to developing well-rounded, articulate and socially conscious graduates.

As the Debate Society returns home from a triumphant tournament, the message is clear: TUT is not simply participating in national debating circuits, it is excelling. With finalists, top-ranking adjudicators and renewed momentum, the society is set to grow even stronger.

The future of debate at TUT is bright and the Jozi Ramble has proven that the University’s voice is powerful, persuasive and impossible to ignore.
