Dr Liza Welthagen
SACIA is a SAQA-recognised professional body operating across Southern Africa within the entertainment and communications industry. SACIA promotes professional standards and ethical business practice while advancing the interests of its members through partnerships and industry representation.
Dr Welthagen also serves as a council member of the Council of Events Professionals Africa, a special interest group within SACIA. The council represents event industry professionals working across business, entertainment and sport.
She strongly advocates for academic representation in industry councils as a way to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice. Her involvement is driven by a commitment to strengthening collaboration between universities and industry and to positioning SACIA’s special interest group as a champion for professional excellence.
Dr Welthagen plans use her position on the board to promote high standards of professionalism and contribute to shaping the future of South Africa’s communications and events industries by supporting collaboration, innovation and alignment between industry standards and academic integrity and discipline.
