The TUT Arts Festival is all about collaboration

The eighth Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Arts Festival will showcase what is possible through collaboration from 10 to 12 September at the Arts Campus.

Staff and students have been working together to create a programme that showcases the talent of our young creatives and offers the public an opportunity to enjoy the work of our internationally renowned staff.

Building on our Artivism theme, this year's focus is on collaboration. The festival is a prime example of what is possible when people work together. The festival is presented by the Faculty of Arts and Design in partnership with the City of Tshwane and Tshwane FM.

We also welcome the support of ABSA Bank for our Dean’s Concert, The Journeys that Carried Us!, and of Splitbeam, one of our industry partners, which made the immersive tunnel experience possible in our Department of Performing Arts, Technical Theatre and Design programme.

Festivalgoers can look forward to a diverse line-up featuring exhibitions, performances, demonstrations, workshops, virtual reality experiences, masterclasses and student films.

The festival offers our students a platform to work with industry professionals and meet prospective employers and art collectors. The valuable simulated Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) experiences gained prepare them to be future-ready graduates. 

Whether your interests lie in Fashion, Fine and Studio Arts (Ceramics, Glass, Jewellery, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Surface and Fibre Arts), Interior Design, Performing Arts (Jazz, Opera, Dance, Performance or Technical) or Visual Communication (Commercial Photography, Integrated Communication Design and Motion Picture Production), the festival offers a unique opportunity to experience the creative process, meet emerging artists and invest in their work.

The festival opens on 9 September with The Journeys That Carried Us! The Dean's Concert 2026, a powerful original musical production that transforms the stage into a symbolic railway, where every song becomes a station, and every performance takes audiences on a journey of courage, resilience, hope and celebration. The production is presented in collaboration with the South African State Theatre at 19h00 in the Drama Theatre.

The festival concludes on 12 September with the spectacular Fashion Extravaganza, Stillness, at 012Central. Presented in collaboration with City Property, the show will feature the Department of Fashion Design and Technology's latest collections as student designers showcase their creativity on the runway.
