Pride, joy and success celebrated at Mbombela Graduations

Thousands of proud graduates crossed the stage at Tshwane University of Technology’s Mbombela graduation ceremonies in May 2026, marking the successful completion of their academic journeys. The celebrations honoured graduates across various qualifications, including postgraduate degrees, while highlighting academic excellence, perseverance and the transformative power of higher education.

Maropeng1 The ceremonies celebrated the achievements of graduates who successfully completed qualifications across multiple disciplines, including postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees and diplomas. Each qualification represented years of commitment, resilience and hard work, culminating in a milestone that will shape graduates’ future careers and contributions to society.

Excitement swept through the venue as graduates prepared to cross the stage and receive their qualifications. Proud families captured memorable moments while lecturers and university staff applauded the achievements of students who had reached the finish line of their academic journeys.

The atmosphere reflected the occasion's significance. Graduates embraced loved ones, celebrated with classmates and shared in the excitement of achieving an important personal and professional goal. Emotional moments unfolded throughout the ceremonies as parents and guardians witnessed the results of years of sacrifice and support.

The celebrations also highlighted the growing number of graduates pursuing postgraduate qualifications, reinforcing TUT’s commitment to developing highly skilled professionals, researchers and future leaders. These achievements contribute to the university’s role in strengthening knowledge creation, innovation and socio-economic development.

Maropeng2 The occasion received further recognition when Ms Leah Mabuza, MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation in Mpumalanga, joined the academic procession. She congratulated graduates on their perseverance, dedication and hard work throughout their academic journeys and wished them success as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

Several individual achievements stood out during the celebrations.

  • Dimakatso Tina Mhaule graduated cum laude with a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Affairs: Administration of the State. While building her career as an Assistant Asset Manager within the Mpumalanga Provincial Government, she demonstrated exceptional academic excellence and commitment to public service.
  • Bongiwe Zinhle Thwala celebrated the achievement of a Master of Management Sciences in Marketing Management. Her dissertation, titled Service Quality in Private Hospitals in the City of Manzini, contributes valuable insights to service quality management within the healthcare sector.
  • Nomawabo Cathrine Mahlangu inspired fellow graduates by earning a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Affairs: Local Government at the age of 56. Serving as an Assistant Director at the Mpumalanga Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, she demonstrated that lifelong learning and personal growth remain achievable at every stage of life.
  • Bandile Musa Dlamini, Chairperson of the International Student Organisation at the Mbombela Campus, added to the celebrations by receiving his Diploma in Marketing. His achievement reflects the ability of student leaders to balance academic excellence with active campus involvement.
