Giyani Campus on track to welcome first students

Academics

14 January 2026

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is on track to welcome the first intake of students at the newly established Giyani Campus for the 2026 academic year.

Five diploma programmes will be offered, including in Accounting, Building Science, Entrepreneurship, Horticulture and Public Affairs, as well as a Bachelor of Education Honours in General Education and Training.

The processing of applications is being finalised with 76% of applicants already admitted in the diploma programmes for the 2026 academic year.  The TUT Giyani Campus academic calendar will be published soon and admitted students will receive updates regarding the tuition timetables and delivery modes.

Tremendous progress has been made with the refurbishment of the campus since September 2025. The Council for Higher Education (CHE) will soon assess the readiness of the Giyani Campus as a site of delivery. Once they have given the greenlight, contact classes should commence without any further delay.

As a university of technology that uses multiple delivery modes, TUT has ensured that all students admitted to the Giyani Campus will not be disadvantaged.

Should space in any of the programmes become available, information will be shared on the TUT website www.tut.ac.za.

Applicants will be informed of their status through an official letter from the Office of the Registrar from 16:00 on 15 January 2026. Alternatively, applicants can check their application status on the TUT website, www.tut.ac.za.Click on Check My Status.
