Modishi Mamosadi, ICEP Programme Manager, led the Scrum Master training session, equipping interns from the Tshwane University of Technology’s (TUT) Faculty of ICT with agile leadership skills and practical workplace knowledge.

Interns from the eMalahleni and Soshanguve campuses attended the session held at Ditsela Palace in Hatfield, Pretoria. The programme focused on building collaboration, innovation and problem-solving skills required in fast-paced digital environments.

Mamosadi said the training introduced interns to Scrum methodologies and real-world applications of agile principles. She said the session covered key Scrum roles, events, and processes while emphasising teamwork, communication and iterative development in project management.

The programme started with structured networking and team-building activities that encouraged peer learning and strengthened interpersonal connections. These engagements laid the foundation for the collaboration essential to agile workspaces.

Interns then participated in a comprehensive training session on Scrum principles, agile methodologies, and strategies for managing dynamic projects. The training aimed to develop critical competencies needed for innovation in evolving professional environments.

A number of interns were also selected as Scrum Masters. Tumiso Malatji said the experience allowed him to engage with peers from different groups and gain new perspectives. He said sharing ideas improved his understanding of team dynamics and boosted his confidence to take on Scrum Master responsibilities.

The initiative received support from TUT, the Tshwane School of Business and Society and Red Bull. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to developing young talent and strengthening skills within the ICEP programme.

The training marks a significant step in preparing interns to contribute effectively to workplaces that increasingly rely on agile frameworks.
