Three outstanding students became the first recipients of Dean’s Awards worth R5 000 each as the Faculty of Management Sciences celebrated its 2026 top achievers at Pretoria Campus. The awards form part of a R50 000 sponsorship from NTGR Engineering following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) to promote academic excellence, student development and industry collaboration.

The sponsorship will recognise nine top-performing students across the Pretoria, Mbombela, eMalahleni and Polokwane campuses. Best Diploma and Best Advanced Diploma students at the three regional campuses will also receive Dean’s Awards valued at R5 000 each.

Dr Edgar Nesamvuni, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, congratulated the award recipients and encouraged them to support fellow students through mentoring and tutoring.

“You are not here by chance. Your achievement is the result of hard work, determination and resilience,” he said.

Dr Nesamvuni also highlighted the Faculty’s 77% success rate, the highest achieved since the COVID-19 pandemic and thanked parents and lecturers for their continued support. He expressed appreciation to NTGR Engineering for its contribution and confirmed the company’s commitment to sponsor the Top Achievers Awards again next year.

Joe Mudau, the guest speaker, encouraged students to appreciate those who supported them throughout their academic journeys and challenged them to continue pursuing excellence.

He urged students to focus on purpose, growth, solutions, character and people while using their knowledge to develop innovative responses to societal challenges.
