Zacheus Malaza Secondary School, a public no-fee secondary school in the Nkangala District Municipality, has built a strong reputation for academic excellence. It achieved a peak matric pass rate of 94.16% in 2024 and continues to nurture high-achieving learners in STEM subjects, including Mathematics and Physical Science.
Mpho Makhatho, a TUT lecturer, delivered a motivational address that resonated strongly with learners. He encouraged them to take ownership of their futures and reminded them that indecision could carry serious consequences.
Makhatho linked education to industries familiar to learners in eMalahleni, including transport and logistics, showing how these sectors rely on professionals in technology and engineering. He highlighted education as a powerful tool for unlocking opportunities and building sustainable careers.
The department enhanced the event's success through direct engagement with learners. Representatives shared information about academic programmes, study pathways and the transition from high school to university life.
