Academic excellence recognised with Chancellor’s Award

Outstanding academic performance and determination have earned Human Resource Management graduate, Itumeleng Mogaleadi Mahlatji, one of the Tshwane University of Technology’s (TUT) highest academic honours, the Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in the Faculty of Management Sciences.
TUT Vice-Chancellor and Principal Prof Tinyiko Maluleke presents the Chancellor’s Award certificate to recipient Itumeleng Mogaleadi Mahlatji.
Mahlatji received the prestigious award after achieving exceptional results during her Diploma in Human Resource Management studies at the Polokwane Campus. She graduated cum laude during TUT’s recent Autumn graduation ceremonies, achieving an impressive 18 distinctions in 20 modules.
Currently pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management with a specialisation in Labour Relations Management, Mahlatji continues to build on her academic success while aiming to graduate cum laude once again.
Itumeleng Mahlatji, Chancellor’s Award recipient for Outstanding Academic Achievement in the Faculty of Management Sciences, described the recognition as both exciting and rewarding.
“It is exciting to be named the top student in the Faculty. The journey was not without challenges, but it was worth it,” she said.
Mahlatji said she did not know about the Chancellor’s Award until she received an email informing her of the achievement.
“I wasn't expecting this. When I received the email about the news, I had to consult Google to understand what the award was about. After reading about it, I knew I deserved it because of the hard work I had put in,” she said.
Mahlatji credits her success to maintaining focus and committing herself to excellence from the start of her studies.
“I told myself that I was going to work hard from the word go to ensure I pass,” she said.

She believes that a positive mindset plays a vital role in achieving success.
“Whatever is happening in our lives is the result of our mindset,” she said.

As she continues her studies in Labour Relations Management, Mahlatji remains focused on personal growth, academic excellence and achieving new milestones in her educational journey.
