The TUT reaffirmed its commitment to community development when it joined stakeholders and partners at the annual Mbombela Annual Charity Golf Day as one of the key sponsors.
The event, hosted by The Garden Mbombela restaurant, brought together business leaders, local organisations and sports enthusiasts with a shared focus on supporting young people in Mbombela and surrounding communities.
Represented by TUT Mbombela’s Directorate for Operations and the Advancement and Partnerships Office respectively, the University engaged with stakeholders throughout the day, emphasising its objectives and exploring future collaborative opportunities. The platform allowed TUT to strengthen ties with partners while showcasing its ongoing work in community upliftment, skills development and youth empowerment.
“It is important to explore various platforms to strengthen relationships with strategic partners and cementing our community development, skills advancement and youth empowerment,” said Shalate Davhana, Manager: Alumni Relations and Fundraising from the Advancement and Partnerships Office.
Tebogo Sehularo, Operations Manager at TUT’s Mbombela Campus, added that the University’s involvement demonstrates its dedication to contributing to societal development beyond the classroom. “Through initiatives like this, the University reinforces its mission of improving lives and building meaningful partnerships that create long-term value,” he said.
The Mbombela Annual Charity Golf Day is a fundraising initiative that supports community projects, orphanages and learner registration fees. TUT extended its appreciation to the organisers and partners for delivering a successful and impactful event and expressed its commitment to continued collaboration to drive positive change.
