Complaints and Misconduct

The HREC has established clear procedures to handle concerns about research integrity and Committee operations.

Research Misconduct
If you suspect a breach of ethical norms, such as falsification, plagiarism, or exploitation of participants, you may submit a formal complaint using the HREC-06 Complaints Procedure for Research Misconduct. Whistleblowers are protected under TUT’s policies and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). The HREC-06 can be submitted anonymously to anonymousrec@tut.ac.za.

Administrative or Operational Complaints
If you wish to raise concerns about the administrative functioning of the HREC — for example, delays, unclear feedback, or conflict of interest — you may use the HREC-07 Administrative and Operational Complaints Form.

All complaints will be investigated fairly, and feedback will be provided to complainants within a reasonable timeframe.
