Student Accommodation

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is the largest residential educational institution in South Africa. There are private student accommodation options, but first-year students should apply and register for University-owned accommodation, managed by ARLC.

ARLC accommodation has the advantage of being on campus, or reliable transport provided by the University, if situated off campus. ARLC residences are furthermore well managed with experienced residence advisors, a strong governance system with many residence life opportunities organised by residence committees.

There is furthermore a mentorship programme, according to which residents are placed according to course of study. Mentors are appointed for each resident to provide academic and mental well-being support.

Prospective students who have applied for accommodation online, will be prioritised for the University-managed (mostly on-campus) accommodation. Prospective students can check their status on the online link or apply if they have not done so yet, until 16 January 2026. Please note that this is only a reservation, and that accommodation will only be confirmed after you have registered academically, as well as for residence. All students in the University-managed residences are placed strictly according to their academic qualification. This will allow you to participate in your academic mentorship programme.
