Local health department rolls out vaccination drive at eMalahleni Campus

On a windy, chilly day in eMalahleni, the Mpumalanga Department of Health on 30 August, started with the roll-out of a vaccination drive for staff, students and the public at the Campus. MEC of Health in the Province, Ms Sasekani Manzini, visited the campus to assess the progress of the first day of vaccinations, address the campus community and encourage them to get vaccinated.

Ruth Segage from Library and Information Services was the first staff member to be vaccinated at the campus site. 

In addressing students, MEC Manzini emphasised that the only way to defeat COVID-19, is by achieving herd immunity, thus every eligible person should be vaccinated.

Newly appointed Campus Rector, Dr Molefe Maleka,  accompanied the MEC on a walkabout at the campus vaccination site. He also encouraged the campus community to be vaccinated and joined the President of the campus SRC, Tshepo Ismael Makua and other members of the SRC, Mr & Miss TUT eMalahleni Campus, staff and students to get his second jab.

The drive formed part of the national drive to ensure as many people as possible have access to and get vaccinated towards achieving herd immunity.

ICT student, Ntokozo Ngubane, was the first student to be vaccinated at the eMalahleni Campus yesterday.
