Personal argument leads to stabbing incident

Pretoria - The Tshwane University of Technology University harshly condemns the altercation that transpired between students during the early hours of 6 September at the Soshanguve South Campus.

Three students sustained injuries when they were stabbed in what is alleged to be a personal argument among them. The altercation occurred in areas obscured from security patrols and when security was alerted they immediately responded and arranged for the students to be transported to a clinic for evaluation and treatment.

One student was discharged, while the other two were taken and admitted to the George Mukhari hospital for further treatment. At present, one student who is in a stable condition, is still receiving treatment.

The incidents are not related to the SRC elections that were successfully concluded on 5 September.

The University is investigating and will be working closely with the SAPS to bring the perpetrators to book.

Anyone with information about the incidents can contact the Campus Protection Services.
