TUT update: 18 February 2019

Academic activities for students remain suspended at TUT’s Pretoria, Arts, Arcadia, Ga-Rankuwa, eMalahleni and Mbombela campuses until further notice. Staff members (academic, administrative and support) reported for duty at all campuses this morning and should continue to report for duty tomorrow.

Activities at the Soshanguve and Polokwane campuses proceeded normally today.

It has been quiet at all campuses, except for the Ga-Rankuwa Campus, where staff were prevented from continuing their work.

A meeting between the EMC and the Transitional ISRC was scheduled for today. During the meeting Management’s response to a Transitional ISRC Memorandum submitted on Saturday was given to the Transitional ISRC to be shared with their constituencies. During the meeting it was also impressed on the student leaders that the academic project is under threat of losing professional accreditation if it does not resume without any further disruptions.

A follow-up meeting between Management and student leaders is scheduled for tomorrow, with a view of normalising the situation at all campuses.

Registration for all students will be extended by five working days.
