TUT update
11 February 2019

Dear TUT stakeholder

Student protests about, among others, NSFAS funding and student accommodation occurred at a number of TUT’s campuses this morning.

At present the eMalahleni Campus remains closed as a result of this morning’s disruptions.

Disruptions are continuing at the Pretoria Campus and the situation is being monitored. Staff and students at the Pretoria and eMalahleni Campus will be advised immediately when normal University activities will resume.

Although the Ga-Rankuwa Campus experienced disruptions this morning, students have decided to call off the protest action and the campus is now accessible.

Sporadic disruptions were experienced at the Arcadia and Arts Campuses. However, activities at these campuses are continuing and staff and students can access these campuses at present.

No incidents have been reported at the Soshanguve or Polokwane Campuses.

The Mbombela Campus remains closed until further notice following protest action experienced there last week.

Line managers at all campuses are requested to ensure that their staff members are made aware of the situation at each campus and to report for duty where activities are continuing as normal.

The University apologises for the inconvenience these disruptions cause and will continue to issue updates with regards to the situation as new information is verified.
