Coach Kennedy Tsimba joins Blue Bulls.
Tsimba, the 2022 Varsity Cup Young Guns winning Coach, is a former Cheetahs and Blue Bulls rugby player, where he made a name as an outstanding point scorer. He holds the record for the South African player who scored the quickest 1 000 points in professional competitions, resulting in the media naming him the "King of Bloemfontein." After retiring from the sport, he was inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame in the class of 2012.
Speaking on his appointment, Tsimba said he is eager to contribute to the Blue Bull’s legacy. “I am excited to be part of a powerhouse with an unmatched history in rugby. I am really looking forward to putting in the work,” says Tsimba.
Tsimba showed great vision and level-headedness when he took over the reins to lead the rugby team at the People’s University.
“It has been a great honour to work with the TUT Vikings Rugby team. It is also incredible to witness the positive culture that we have instilled off the field translating onto the field, with outstanding outcomes.”
“Another thing to write home about, is how the mindset of TUT players is geared towards excelling in academics and equally so in sports. These are qualities I will always appreciate about TUT players,” says Tsimba.
Tsimba will continue to coach the University’s rugby team until the end of the President’s League, as they prepare for the quarterfinals with both senior teams. He also made it to two finals, the U/20 Shield and the USSA 15s, in July.
TUT wishes Coach Kennedy all the best in his new role at the Blue Bulls.
