TUT and DCDT host BRICS Institute for Future Networks SA Chapter

This week, the Tshwane University of Technology's Institute for the Future of Work (IFoW) in partnership with the Department of Communication and Digital Technologies (DCDT) hosted the BRICS Institute for Future Networks South Africa Chapter (BIFNS) in Cape Town.

As part of the BRICS agenda, South Africa hosted the engagement of the Ministers of Communication from the BRICS countries in Cape Town, where matters of mutual interest in universal access to data, collaborations in research and innovation were discussed. 

IFoW's Senior Director, Tseliso Mohlomi chaired the Council of BIFN themed “Universal Connectivity for a thriving digital economy.”

Mohlomi says TUT's involvement in the BIFN increases the prospect, the potential and the capacity for global partnerships in research and innovation. The deliberations have been very fruitful and key areas like digital skills and training have been identified. 

The meetings will conclude today with the declaration from the Ministers.
