Dr Nthangeni appointed Executive Director for Student Affairs & Extracurricular Development (SAED)

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is pleased to announce that Dr Azwitamisi Shadrack Nthangeni has been appointed Executive Director: Student Affairs and Extracurricular Development (SAED). Dr Nthangeni took up the post from 1 September 2022.

Dr Azwitamisi Shadrack Nthangeni newly appointed Executive Director: Student Affairs and Extracurricular Development (SAED).

Dr Nthangeni brings a wealth of experience to the position, having started his career at as a lecturer in Sport Management, then appointed as Section Head: Marketing Logistics and Sport Management. In 2013, Dr Nthangeni was appointed as Director of Sport and Recreation. His stellar achievements in this portfolio are many and notable. 

While acting on the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (SAED) in 2021, he presided over the University’s first online SRC elections, which were a resounding success with a turnout of 50% - the highest in the country.

Dr Nthangeni’s expertise is also recognised beyond TUT where he serves on several boards and committees, including:

  • He is a Board member, and spokesperson of Boxing South Africa. 
  • He is a member of the Gauteng Film Commission and serves as Chairperson of the Funding Committee.
  • He is a member of the CATHSSETA FINREMCO. 
  • He serves in the NEC, as Chief Financial Officer of the University Sports South Africa (USSA).

Speaking about the constituency he will serve – the students, Dr Nthangeni has indicated that he has worked with students at defining moments in their lives and has been inspired by their courage, character and spirit. He further said that he looks forward to creating lasting partnerships with students as the University we build systems to support, strengthen and enhance the fabric of our campus community. We are duty bound to produce future- ready graduates.
