In his presentation Dr Etienne van Wyk, Executive Dean of the Faculty of ICT and interim campus rector of the Soshanguve Campus, shared information on staff, students and R&I activities at the Faculty. He also presented the Faculty’s most recent highlights, current challenges and offered thoughts on moving the Faculty “from good to great”, in line with TUT’s new strategic direction.
Responding to the dean’s presentation, Prof Maluleke accentuated that the faculty has the ability to significantly contribute in transitioning the university from good to great.
“The Faculty of ICT has the ability to contribute to the digital transformation of this institution,” he added.
Prof van Wyk, DVC of Teaching, Learning and Technology, commented that the lab virtualisation system (CloudLab), developed by the ICT faculty to allow students to remotely access the computers in the computer labs, particularly impressed him.
The VC and Prof van Wyk were equally impressed by the quality of staff and research conducted at the Faculty.
