Prof Pius Owolawi.
The Summit, accelerating economic growth and development of the Free State through innovative 4IR technologies, was hosted in collaboration with the Free State Provincial Government at the Central University of Technology (CUT) Bloemfontein Campus late in July 2022. Serving as a continuation of the first summit held in 2019, the summit focused on youth participation and forging new networks with critical role players in the province. The summit endeavoured to find innovative technological solutions that will empower communities and improve the lives of ordinary people in the region.
During his keynote address, he presented some insightful information about AI-Agriculture 5.0. One of the highlights of his presentation was a discussion on his digital agriculture 5.0 project. The project, that is currently underway at TUT, will be a first for the University.
“The rationale of this project revolves around the demand to alter conventional agricultural management to ensure sustainable conservation of natural resources,” said Prof Owolawi.
Prof Owolawi shared the stage with carefully curated expert speakers, thought leaders, seasoned entrepreneurs, leading academics and researchers on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
