TUT mourns passing of Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize

The Tshwane University of Technology Council, management and community mourn the passing of Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize, Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with disabilities. She was also appointed Minister of Higher Education and Training between 2017 and 2018.

Prof Mkhize was the African National Congress (ANC) NEC member and Chairperson of the Andrew and June Mlangeni Foundation. She served as Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services between May 2014 and March 2017. She was then appointed Home Affairs Minister from March 2017 to October of the same year. She was also treasure-general of the ANC Women’s League and served as ambassador to the Netherlands between 2005 and 2009.

Her work was that of a true patriot. She is remembered as a person of principle, a well-known pedagogue, scholar, and a skilled public servant.
