Collaboration between INET and Russian Embassy on the cards

3 May 2021

Collaboration between a wide range of organisation is central to growth and prosperity. Therefore, the University’s Institute for Nano Technology (INET) recently invited members from the Russian Trade Mission Embassy aimed at establishing a relationship that will help to intensify research, improve skills and advance technology.

Marks Mmutlane, presented their focus and projects that address the objectives of INET. She said, ‘’We invited Russian Trade Mission Embassy to provide them with a broader picture of what we do, to establish a relationship through which we can impart our technological knowledge with the rest of the world as well as acquire new technological ideas and ways of work from them.’’

Collaboration of this nature also allows postgraduate exchange and lecturer exchange, which result in international exposure, opportunities for institutions to experience different technologies and promoting areas for scientific advancement.

Vladimir Emmer, one of the Russian Trade Missions Embassy representatives, talked about the significance of the collaboration meeting as well as the importance of an alliance since South Africa and Russia form part of the BRICKS community. ’’I am positive that we can establish a partnership between TUT, the Russian Trade Mission and other relevant stakeholders, which will boost the two entities in terms of science and technology as well as the fourth industrial revolution,’’ he said.

The INET plays an important role in collaborating with other institutes to promote and advance research and innovation, creating opportunities for exposure for students to learn and discover new and unknown ways in technology. The Russian Trade Embassy is but one of the organisations that the INET would like to collaborate with.

Marks Mmutlane added that their vision is to work with multiple organisations, ensure skills and training development for students as well as opportunities for international travel.
