Countdown is on to meet TUT excellence awards winners

13 November 2019

The 4IR backdrop will set the scene for the Tshwane University of Technology’s 2019 Academic Excellence Awards taking place tonight, 13 November at the Pretoria Campus.

The Academic Excellence Awards are the institution’s most prestigious accolades program for Teaching, Learning and Technology (TLT), Higher Education Development and Support (HEDS), as well as Research and Innovation (R&I). These are for staff members who have improved their qualification, those who have received or upgraded their rating from the National Research Foundation along with teaching and research excellence.

This year’s categories have been slightly revamped and staff could expect one new award category in the programme.

Organisers of the event, Ingrid Botha, Research Grant Administrator and Sonica Coetzee, Academic Coordinator at the office of DVC: TLT, have worked tirelessly to make sure that all was ready before the big day.

“These awards are one of the leading events at our University. As such, every year we look forward to providing a quality production, entertainment and overall ambience. This is the one day where we highlight the university’s strong academic brand and projects. We have involved students and staff from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Performing Arts, Fine and Studio Arts and the Fashion, Design and Technology Department, who have assisted significantly in the planning and the 4IR theme,” they explained.
