Acquaint yourself with 2020’s fashion trends

28 October 2019

If fashion is your passion and you can’t wait to see what’s on-trend next year, don’t miss the Tshwane University of Technology’s Department of Fashion Design and Technology’s annual student fashion show, themed Flashing 2020 trends.

This year’s line-up will feature first to fourth year student work with the highlight being third-year students showcasing signature collections which will be judged and awarded prizes.

The popular Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology offered by TUT continues in the Art and Design stream and from this year it has a far more intense vocational focus on the interconnectedness between the core themes, namely Design and Manufacturing Systems. It provides students with a skill-set that allows them to explore the variety of possibilities in the fashion and overall apparel industry.

The Diploma aims to prepare students for industry employment and entrepreneurship in a practical way, or to further their academic careers in fashion. Indigenous knowledge incorporated into the course assists to develop locally-grounded students who can think globally, but contextualise relevant design solutions at home. The Diploma aligns with the vision and mission of TUT as it aims to implement technology, nurture innovation, entrepreneurship and community engagement throughout the student’s three-year experience, creating original, resourceful and self-reliant graduates.

The event will be hosted at 012 Central on 15 November (18:30 for 19:00).

Tickets are R100 per person and available at the door or at the Department ( /012 382 6586).
