Prof Nalini Moodley-Diar, Executive Dean: Faculty of the Arts, wasnamed country winner (SADC South) in the Education and Training (Academic) category of the CEO Global’s Most Influential Women in Business & Government 2019 Awards.
The awards aim to identify and recognise Africa’s most influential female leaders. The nomination process is open with no professional body affiliation required. Nominations are obtained from the business community and government sector.
The judges look for candidates who have made an impact on the profitability/sustainability of their organisation or that of their employer, played a leading role in the development of their sector, willingly developed those around them, and invested of themselves in the upliftment of communities.
Asked what this recognition means to her, Prof Moodley-Diar said: “To be recognised at this platform is indeed an honour for me, but also for TUT as it is this institution that has given me the opportunity to do the work I do. This award also humbles me, as I know there are so many women in Higher Education that are doing amazing work in their respective fields. Recognition as an influential woman in the education sector is deeply encouraging as we are all aware of the disproportionate levels of men and women in leadership in this sector. Good leaders are considered role models in their institutions and inspire trust and confidence among their fellow colleagues. While I hope this is what I do, I will continue aspiring to do more for the collective good of women at TUT and in this sector. I believe we have arrived at a time in this country’s history where institutions are now being shaped through inclusive practices that empower women leaders towards reimagining this beautiful country of ours.”
Nominees undergo a rigorous multi-tiered judging process. “The highest possible standard is maintained throughout the judging. Those individuals whom have been recognised as winners in their field can be assured that they have truly excelled,” said Annelize Wepener, Chief Executive of CEO Global.
