New TUT addition to Power FM 98.7 line-up

Brand and Communication Specialist at the Directorate of Corporate Affairs and Marketing, Phaphama Tshisikhawe has joined the Power FM 98.7 Weekend News team. She made her debut at the Houghton studios the past weekend.

Phaphama is not new to radio, she hosted a couple of shows at TUT FM 96.2 since 2009 and has freelanced with a few commercial radio stations. With a background in journalism, she majored in broadcast during her undergrad studies. Her career history include working for the Department of Journalism as a technical assistant, a Communications Specialist for Alumni Relations at TUT as well as a journalist for other media houses. She also worked for one of the leading advertising and marketing agency in South Africa - The Creative Counsel, where she started as a promoter and worked her way up to Campaign Manager.

Her responsibilities at Power FM include anchoring news bulletins every hour, generating ideas for stories, features and following leads from news agencies, the police, the public, press conferences and other sources; pitching ideas to editors and writing scripts for bulletins and headlines.

In an interview with e-TUTor, Phaphama could not contain her joy. “I am very excited and looking forward to learning some more and enhancing my skills in the broadcast arena. I will be doing this on a freelance basis and I thank God for this opportunity. All I can say is that the sky is only the beginning, not the limit. I am ready to work hard and see where this journey takes me,” she said.

In her current job at TUT, Phaphama is responsible for university marketing collateral, publications and generating internal publicity for research and innovation matters and other environments.
