Dr Bolanle Abe, Senior Lecturer and Academic Manager at the Department, received the bursary donation for 38
B Tech students on behalf of the University.
The bursary scheme, which is a first for the Department, aims to help and provide bursaries to more students for the 2020 academic year.
Ms Matsiliso Eseu, GE General Manager (HR) who represented General Electric, wished the students well on their academic careers and presented the donation to Dr Bolanle Abe, Senior Lecturer and Academic Manager of the Department, Prof Jaco Jordaan, who represented the Campus Rector at the event and Philip Tshubwana, lecturer at the department.
Talking about the increasing need of students for financial assistance, Dr Abe said, “We are excited about and grateful for General Electric’s intervention. It will go a long way in assisting most of the disadvantaged students in the Department to continue their studies. Thank you to General Electric and staff at the Department of Electrical Engineering for your dedication to see this project come to fruition.”
