Former TUT goalkeeper voted player of the week

King Ndlovu, former Varsity Football men’s team goalkeeper, has undoubtedly won the hearts of football fans and Betway South Africa experts. This became clear when he was voted best player of the week following his remarkable performance in the premier soccer league for Black Leopards and their recent Nedbank Cup clash against Orlando Pirates, during which Ndlovu was also named Man of the Match.

The 25 year-old shot stop, who was born in Ga-Rankuwa North of Pretoria, has had a great journey since his departure from TUT. One of the highlights during his stint in coach Bushy Moloi’s team was winning the Varsity Football competition for the first time.

Ndlovu went on to join FC Cape Town, before Jomo Sono snatched him with a lucrative deal to join his side in the National First Division. It was during his time with Jomo Cosmos FC, that he caught the eye of Black Leopards. He is currently first choice for the Limpopo based outfit and many football analysts have dubbed him as a possible replacement for Bafana Bafana's injured Itumeleng Khune, to play in the Africa Cup of Nations competition.

The sports website said in a statement that their football experts at Betway have decided to name the Black Leopards goalkeeper, King Ndlovu, Player of the Week.  This follows a heroic performance when he saved Innocent Maela's sudden death penalty to knock out the Buccaneers and send Lidoda Duvha through to the next round.

According to Matome Masetla, who mentored Ndlovu while at the Ga-Rankuwa campus, King is a hard worker who has always been willing to put in an extra effort. He said even during off-season Ndlovu is always available to assist at TUT Ga-Rankuwa. “This young man is extremely humble. I have no doubt that this is just the beginning and in the next two years, he will be among the preferred candidates for Bafana Bafana.

Commenting on his achievement, Ndlovu said; “It feels great to be voted player of the week and also to be part of team of the month. As for Bafana Bafana, I can't say anything yet; there are many more experienced goalkeepers than me. Only time will tell.”
