Tshwane University of Technology’s John Wright, who is a world renowned and respected Hockey Umpire, was crowned as the Federation of International Hockey’s Umpire (FIH) of the year during a glamour event in Berlin last night.
John was recognised for:
- Umpiring the Olympics Men’s Final match
- Umpiring the Final of the Semi-World League in Johannesburg 2017
- The sterling work he has done over the years as an International Hockey umpire. Although John retired as International umpire in 2017, he is still involved in Hockey on all levels.
Shadrack Ntangeni, Director of Sport, shared his excitement about John’s achievement, saying “TUT salutes and congratulates John on this award!”
