Solly Msimanga, Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane pledged 2 million to sponsor football to compete at the highest level.
The winners included Caster Semenya, who was voted Sport woman of the Year; Henricho Bruntjies, Sport operate of the Year; and Milton Kofman Kekana, the 2018 Student Sport man of the Year.
The award for the Best Performance by a Sport Team went to Athletics Cross Country, while the Men and Women’s Football teams shared the Varsity Sport/Varsity Cup Team of the Year award after their sterling performances at the 2018 Varsity Cup tournament.
Other people who were acknowledged for their efforts to promote TUT sport, included Steven Mokoka, who participated in the Commonwealth Games 2018, Bushy Moloi and Tebogo Mokae, the coaches of the TUT Men and Women’s teams that won the Varsity Cup tournament.
During the event, Solly Msimanga, Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane pledged R2 million on behalf of the CoT that will be raised through a gala dinner to sponsor football to compete at the highest level.
