Varsity football star joins Black Leopards

The Tshwane University of Technology’s (TUT) super striker Themba “Messi” Ndlovu, has signed a three-year deal with newly promoted Premier Soccer League (PSL) side, Black Leopards.

Thus far, 2018has been a memorable year for the 24-year-old Mpumalanga youngster. He recently graduated with a National Diploma in the Arts while he also received a R20 000 reward for being top goal scorer of the year at his previous club, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) FC. In addition, his professional career made headlines when the Limpopo outfit, TTTM FC, which is in the National first Division, signed him up. 

All of these achievements were on top of of a sterling season with coach Bushy Moloi’s lads in the Varsity Football competition.

He played an integral part in the #TUTSport red machine that were undefeated right up to the final, where the University of Pretoria beat them. Ndlovu ended the season on a high with an impressive seven goals and four assists. 

An elated Ndlovu said, although he is excited to join Leopards, he will remain focused in the run-up to his debut in the PSL. He said he will remain the hard working, consistent Themba Ndlovu everyone knows.

“I have been waiting for this opportunity for very long in my career. I am ready for the challenge and my priority is to score goals. This is exactly what I needed in my life; an opportunity to demonstrate my hard work and the consistency in my game,” he said.

Shadrack Nthangeni, Director of Sport and Recreation, said this people’s university firmly believes in empowering student athletes and supporting their holistic development in every way possible. 

”We are excited that Ndlovu joined the TUT football club,delivered on his mandate as a prolific striker and obtained his qualification as well. We wish him well in his career as a professional footballer and trust that he will play his part in assisting Black Leopards to stay in the PSL. He is a true ambassador of TUT Sport,” said Nthangeni.
