Handing over the computers, all still in good working condition, to principals and school governing body members of the four schools on behalf of the Polokwane Campus Management Committee, Dr Walter Tshamano, the Campus Rector, indicated that, “Campus Management is delighted to donate the computers to the beneficiaries. In addition to the donation, a group of final year ICT students and Titus Rabothata from ICT Support Services, have committed themselves to assist the schools with basic maintenance and trouble-shooting on a quarterly basis for the next three years”.
Receiving her batch of 25 computers, Nong-Modikwa Primary School principal, Ms N.M Thema, said “the donation came at an appropriate time as learners will now be able to type their tests, receive emails from the Circuit Office and save important documents with ease. In addition, the school has long wanted to introduce ICT as a subject. This will assist us in achieving our dreams”.
For Ngoato Secondary School, the computers will open up a new world for their learners as some will be seeing a computer for the first time in their lives. ‘This donation from TUT will really come in handy as we will get an opportunity to familiarise our learners with how technology can transform their lives and those of members in their communities.” said Thato Sathege.
