Chair of TUT Council elected to Gauteng leadership

23 July 2018

Dr Bandile Masuku, Chairperson of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Council, was elected as the eighth additional member to the African National Congress (ANC) Provincial Executive Committee (PEC). His selection was announced during the party’s three-day Gauteng elective congress on 22 July 2018, in Irene, Centurion.

Dr Masuku has served TUT with distinction as the Chairperson of Council since his appointment in April 2014.  Dr Masuku is a highly-regarded obstetrician and gynaecologist, who is actively involved in the health and education sectors. He currently serves as a member on the Council for Higher Education (CHE) and on the board of the Office of Health Standards Compliance (OHSC), among others.

Upon his election, Dr Masuku said that he was humbled, but also appreciative of the task at hand. “It is not an achievement, but rather a call to serve our people, a task I am absolutely ready for.”
