Caster Semenya.
On Friday she set the new record at 3:59.92. This was her first Diamond League race over the 1 500m distance, a week after the IAAF announced its new regulation that would see female athletes undergo testosterone reducing treatment.
Her next race will take place on 26 May in Eugene, USA.
Pledging the University’s support to the revered athlete and TUT student, Shadrack Ntangeni, Director of Sport and Recreation said, “TUT stands firmly in support of Caster’s athletics and academic career. She is consistently proving her metal on the race track in the run-up to the athletics World Cup scheduled to take place at the London Stadium on 14 and 15 July 2018.”
