TUT Council re-elects Dr Bandile Masuku as Chairperson

Dr Bandile Masuku was re-elected as TUT’s Council Chairperson and Ms Lulama Nare was elected as Deputy Chairperson at a Council meeting held on 20 April 2018.

Dr Masuku has served the University with distinction as the Chairperson of Council since 11 April 2014. A highly-regarded obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Masuku is involved in both the health and education sectors, also serving as council member on the Council for Higher Education (CHE) and on the board of the Office of Health Standards Compliance (OHSC), among others. 

Ms Lulama Nare was elected at Deputy Chairperson. Ms Nare was appointed to the University Council on 1 February 2014. She currently also chairs the Employment Conditions Committee of Council, as well as the Remuneration Committee of Council.

As the Chairperson of the Commission for Gender Equality and Chairperson of the National Skills Authority, among others, she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to TUT’s Council. Ms Nare replaces Mr Nicolas Motsatse, who has resigned from the TUT Council. 

The University congratulates the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson and wishes them success for their tenure on the governance body.
