TUT bags prestigious Liberty Radio Award

16 April 2018

Only four months into the year, Tshwane University of Technology’s Pretoria based campus radio station, Tshwane FM 93.6, has once again raised the bar by bagging a second prestigious award for 2018.

The station has been nominated for four awards in the annual Liberty Radio Awards that took place on Saturday, 14 April at the Santon Convention Centre. The nominations were for Best Morning Drive Show Presenter, Best Afternoon Drive Show Presenter, Best News Presenter and Best Music Show.  To TUT’s delight they won the award for Best Music Show, The Night Pulse, presented by Nishan “DJ Nobz” Chetty and Letlotlo Chuma on Friday evenings from 7 – 10pm.

With this year's theme 'raising the bar, celebrating those who keep us informed and entertained,' the awards were preceded by a conference featuring radio-specific topics discussed by top names in the industry held earlier in the day.

Liberty Radio Awards CEO Lance Rothschild commended the custodians of the vibrant radio industry for the work they do in our diverse country. Liberty group divisional director of group communications, Nerina Bodasing, also commented on radio's ability to connect people from different communities, gender and age groups.

Less than two months ago, in February, Tshwane FM 93.6 also won the City of Tshwane award for Best Community Radio Station.

Congratulations to TUT’s DJ Nobz and Letlotlo Chuma, winners of the Best Music Show award during the Liberty Radio Awards. They can be seen in the attached picture with the award, together with Nobz’s wife Shantal on the right.
