TUT aerobics team pockets gold at SASAF champs

27 June 2018

The Tshwane University of Technology’s (TUT) Ga-Rankuwa Campus based Aerobics Team won gold again for the 8th year running. The team also qualified with federation colours at the recent South African Fitness Sport Aerobics Federation (SASAF) championships in Cape Town.

With a total of 7.5 points and pocketing the gold medal in Cape Town, the team, coached by James Sebolai, also qualified to participate in the international championships in the Netherlands later this year.

In addition to winning the SASAF championships for eight consecutive years, the Ga-Rankuwa Team also qualified for and won the World Championships in Austria in 2016. In 2017, they took position seven and received an award for the most improved team in the Netherlands.

Sebolai said it is important to maintain a balance between practice and studies, therefore the team mostly practices over weekends. “I am very proud of the squad who bagged their first win after I started coaching them. They have been on a winning streak ever since.”
