Tech companies who exhibited at the Expo, included Huawei, Microsoft, BET Software and TechEx Digital Solutions.
Mohammed Bismilla, Head of Emerging Talent at Huawei South Africa, said Huawei has previously partnered with the University on many other ventures, therefore they found it fitting to visit TUT and inform students about the latest jobs that are available in the industry.
“Several of our top performers and key contributors have come from this wonderful institution, thus it is extremely fitting for Huawei to have an interest in TUT students. It is important to educate these bright young minds about Huawei and the possibilities available to them, as well as engage them at their own level to provide a better understanding of what we do at Huawei.”
He added that Huawei has plans underway to offer internships and bursaries to TUT students enrolled for ICT related courses.
Students were excited about the opportunity to gain an insight into the various industries, what they do and the opportunities available to them in these industries. Maluleka Fulufhelo who attended the Expo, said the importance of career Expos should never be underestimated. “There is a lot of information available at Expos, they help to clarify certain student concerns and students get an opportunity to see the jobs available to them in the market.”
