TUT and Schmalkalden University sign cooperation agreement

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences – Germany.

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences – Germany.

As part of the cooperation, the two universities will promote academic exchange programs for students and staff, strengthen joint research and co-supervision of postgraduate students facilitate guest lectures for undergraduate programmes, ensure international co-funding applications.

Speaking on the MOU, Dr Vathiswa Papu-Zamxaka, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Engagement, said this was a great opportunity for the University. “Both universities will endeavour to implement the cooperation agreement in teaching and research work,” she indicated.

“In line with our strategy of producing future-ready graduates, another theme to be addressed by the cooperation agreement is the work placements opportunities for our students in South African based German companies. Both institutions will also engage in mobility for administrative personnel to train and learn from each other for capacity building in internationalisation,” said Dr Papu-Zamxaka.

“We are committed to building this relationship, which we hope will lay the groundwork for academic leadership for both South Africa and Germany,” she said.
