The Tshwane University of Technology aspires to actively promote extensive and ongoing engagement and collaboration with relevant educational partners nationally, as well as internationally to enhance its scientific, socio-economic and policy impact.

On 14 March 2023, the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr Edgar Nesamvuni and Dr Florian Mtey, Vice-Chancellor at the National College of Tourism – Tanzania led strategic partnership talks, which culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Dr Nesamvuni said discussions have been taking place since 2022 and the purpose of the MoU is to define areas for “increased collaboration, African collaboration and scholarship, cooperation and interaction for further promotion of education, science and research” in which the universities desire to work together in the future for their mutual benefit.

He added that the signed MoU is sufficiently broad to accommodate any future collaborative activities of interest to the two partners.

TUT and NCT aim at working together in the following areas;

  • The joint offering of programmes in the fields of Tourism Management, Events Management, Hospitality Management and Entrepreneurship Development.
  • The exchange of staff as guest lecturers in their fields of Tourism Management, Events Management, Hospitality Management and Entrepreneurship Development as agreed upon when the need arises.
  • The exchange of students for periods as mutually agreed upon in a separate agreement and the recognition of completed modules of studies for qualification purposes subject to the National Qualification Framework levels of the respective countries.
