Lufuno Ratsiku.
The SACPCMP is a strategic statutory construction and project management professional body established in terms of parliamentary process by Section 2 of the South African Constitution and parliamentary Act No 48 of 2000. The body has the mandate of regulating registered professionals of various categories, including Professional Construction Project Managers among others. The Minister of Public Works, Patricia De Lille appointed Council candidates in November 2022 and inauguration of the President took place in December 2022.
Speaking on his appointment, Ratsiku indicated that he was honoured to continue serving the construction industry at this new capacity especially given the industry’s significant contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the South African economy. He mentioned that among other contributions he would like to see the built environment professionals assisting the industry and ultimately the entire economy to rise positively following the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. He further indicated that infrastructure development needs to play a significant role in returning our economy to its rightful place in the global landscape.
“I look forward to working with the Council, to brighten the prospects of built environment professionals and make a positive impact on the infrastructure development environment,” said Ratsiku.
Born and raised in Siloam Village in Venda – Limpopo, Ratsiku said he does not take opportunities presented to him for granted. “Since I grew up in a very poor community, I know my achievements can inspire other young people to never give up,” he said.
Ratsiku is a part-time Project Management lecturer at the Faculty of Management Sciences, where he uses his industry experience to give back to the University and to students who aspire to follow on his journey.
