Arts Postdoctoral fellow receives prestigious visiting scholarship

6 September 2023

Dr Kgomotso Moshugi, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Arts and Design, recently received a prestigious two-month visiting scholarship from 22 July – 30 September 2023, at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS).

Dr Kgomotso Samuel Moshugi.

STIAS provides and maintains an independent ‘creative space for the mind’ to advance the cause of science and scholarship across all disciplines. It is global in its reach but local in its African roots, while it values original thinking and innovation in this context. It encourages the cross-pollination of ideas across cultures, academic or otherwise. It hence gives preference to projects that will tap into and benefit from a multi-disciplinary discourse while also contributing unique perspectives to such a discourse.

Owing to the fellowship Dr Moshugi will conduct research at STIAS alongside distinguished scholars and professors in the Arts space and beyond, while reflecting on what it means to make, teach and research the arts against longstanding social injustices.

“I truly believe that this scholarship will assist me to network with an international cohort of scholars, but more importantly, will contribute to my growth in being an established researcher and scholar in the fields of Arts and Humanities,” said Dr Moshugi.
