MoU with Henan Polytechnic University strengthens TUT’s international ties

Bilateral institutional engagements between the Tshwane University of Technology(TUT) and Henan Polytechnic University, China since 2022, has just resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TUT and Henan Polytechnic University signed by Prof Yang Xiaolin, President and Dr Vathiswa Papu-Zamxaka, DVC for Research.

Upon the signing of the MoU, Dr Vathiswa Papu-Zamxaka, DVC for Research, Innovation and Engagement said the MoU was important for TUT because it would: “Allow the two institutions to develop and expand on fruitful collaborations that will benefit staff and students.”

“The expansion of academic exchange programmes for staff will lead to joint research publications in top international journals and will increase possibilities for joint funding applications between the two institutions. The co-supervision of postgraduate students will enhance both universities’ production of future ready Master’s and Doctoral students,” she said.

The objective of the Memorandum includes, but is not limited to:

  • Academic exchange programmes for staff and students, both short- and long-term.
  • Co-hosting of Post-doctoral research fellowships.• Co-supervision of postgraduate  students.
  •  Collaboration on research projects.
  •  Sharing of academic knowledge and materials.
  •  Joint research funding applications.
