TUT confers certificates to Gauteng farmers and military veterans

20 July 2023

The Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Science in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) will today confer nine hundred (900) certificates to farmers and military veterans in the Gauteng province. These candidates successfully completed the Stimulated Agribusiness Acceleration Programme (SAAP).

The University and GDARD entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to partner in the Stimulated Agribusiness Acceleration Programme (SAAP) for a period of three years (from 2020/2021 to 2022/2023 financial years). SAAP was initiated to provide holistic support to small-scale and emerging farmers by equipping them with specialised technical agricultural and agro-processing skills, business and entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and competencies that they need to run successful farming enterprises in the Gauteng provincial priority agri-value chain sectors.

In addition, student graduates and the Agricultural Extension officers who completed various Short Learning Programmes (SLPs) in different technical agricultural and agro-processing skills, as well as business and entrepreneurial skills, will receive certificates.
