Student Governance Director appointed to serve on SA Gambling Board

Dr Gugulethu Xaba, Director of Student Governance and Leadership Development (SGLD) at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), has been elected as a board member of the Gauteng Gambling Board of South Africa. The Board is responsible for the oversight of the regulation in the gambling industry throughout the country as well as preserving the integrity of South Africa as a responsible global citizen.

Ms Tasneem Motara, MEC for Economic Development, appointed Dr Xaba to serve as a member of the gambling board. 

“I appreciate the trust that the MEC has bestowed upon me. This demonstrates the trust put in skilled TUT people by various governmental entities to rebuild the nation’s confidence in these public institutions,” said Dr Xaba.

Dr Xaba added: “This is a third entity that I have been entrusted with to serve on its board.” 

He currently also serves as Chairperson of the Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital Board and as Deputy Chairperson of the Vuselela TVET College Council.
