Prof Moodley-Diar, Executive Dean: Faculty of the Arts and Design.
Prof Nalini Moodley-Diar will serve a second term as Executive Dean: Faculty of the Arts and Design. Prof Polly Mashigo has also been reappointed as Executive Dean for the Faculty of Economics and Finance. Dr Mumthaz Boonabhai will serve another term as Senior Director at the Directorate of Higher Education Development Support (HEDS), all effective from 1 January 2023.
Prof Moodley-Diar has a B.A (Fine Arts), M.A. (Art History) cum laude, a UPGCE and completed her PhD in Art History at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, which focused on the visual art produced by Indian South Africans. With more than 28 years of experience in her field, Prof Moodley-Diar comes highly recommended by experts in her field.
Prof Mashigo has been with the University for over 26 years. Her academic career started as a lecturer and she has held senior positions in the university such as Head of the Commercial Education Department, Head of Public Management and Political Sciences Department, Head of Economics Department, and Interim Campus Rector. Prof Mashigo has a Doctoral Degree (D.Litt et Phil) in Economics from the University of Johannesburg, which focused on extending credit to the low-income and poor households in South Africa with particular reference to a system of principles. Her second Doctoral Degree, DBA (Higher Education Management) obtained from the university of Bath, UK, focused on assessment of co-operative governance in post-1994 democratic South African higher education sector.
Dr Boonabhai is a seasoned educator and has previously been employed as Senior Lecturer and HOD at the Department of Primary Education, Soshanguve South Campus. Dr Banoobhai holds a Doctorate in Education and is widely recognised for her ability to serve, engage and inspire students. She is skilled and experienced in several aspects of the education sector and has served TUT with distinction.
