Mr Tilson Manyoni appointed Chairperson of the National Advisory Council on Innovation

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) congratulates Mr Tilson Mphathi Manyoni, the current Chairperson of the TUT Council, on his recent appointment as Chairperson of the National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI).

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, could not have appointed a more qualified person to chair the National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI) at this time in the evolution of the South African system of innovation. Mr Tilson Manyoni who has extensive industry and considerable experience as an entrepreneur, is also the current Chairperson of the Council of the Tshwane University of Technology. He also chairs the Advisory Committee of the Tshwane University of Technology’s Institute for the Future of Work.

The National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI) is a crucial element of if the national system of innovation whose main role is to advise the minister  on all matters related to innovation, science and technology. As well as its responsibilities as a funding agency, the NACI has the responsibility of ensuring coherence and coordination between the various role players in the national system of innovation. 

Speaking on his appointment, Mr Manyoni indicated that it is an honour to serve as the NACI Chairperson, especially in the digital and innovation epoch we are in. “I am deeply committed to the Council’s mission and mandate. I look forward to working with the Council team to continue to shine a light on innovation,” he said.
