Up-and-coming artist, Eloise Schoeman.
For the exhibition, Eloise will partner with Fine Arts photographer, Marnus Strydom. The show encapsulates fleeting moments; moments you share with loved ones or strangers; moments that are personal to only you, but is a universal experience.
Both artists have found a commonality in their process, Strydom being an analogue photographer working with the intricate editing process of a negative, and Eloise using digital photography as a basis for her paintings. Both artists work with vivid colours and play around with intricate lighting to create a nostalgic feeling.
Schoeman is currently completing her Advanced Diploma: Fine Arts as a TUT Fine Arts painter. She studied under celebrated artist and senior lecturer, Dr Jan van der Merwe.
For four years, public transport was a huge part of her life. She would spend three hours almost every day on trains or busses. She would encounter many faces at the same time repetitively – countless brief moments where she would be sharing the same space with someone where they were in close proximity, yet it was incredibly impersonal.
Fine artist, Karin Preller, will open the exhibition and be a guest speaker at the event.
