The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) announced that a special memorial service will be held for third-year Integrated Communication student, Ntokozo Manyenzi Xaba, who met her untimely death on 2 February 2023, in what appears to be an incident of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

 Ms Ntokozo Manyenzi Xaba.

Prof Tinyiko Maluleke, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, said the memorial service for the TUT community will take place on Thursday, 9 February at 10:00, Student Centre, Soshanguve South Campus.

“The TUT community is in mourning. Our students are inconsolable, and the staff members are grieving. On behalf of the Council of the University and the entire University community, we send our deepest condolences to the Xaba family,” he said.

Prof Maluleke also announced an institution-wide week of mourning for Xaba. As a public display of mourning, the TUT flag will fly half-mast at all campuses until the end of the week.
